Bio

At three days of age, CraftLass went to her new home in New Jersey with nothing but one piece of information about her biological family, that she should learn to perform music, for it was deep in her blood. Fortunately, her adopted parents listened. While growing up, her after-school life was practically filled with every kind of lesson possible to squeeze into a day, from a variety of musical instruments to voice and musical theater to many forms of dance. But by the end of high school her other interests took precedence and she had to put performing on hold.

Her return to music was on a very different end -- the business and technical side. Following opportunities to Nashville and back north to New York , her experience includes grassroots promotion of several bands, production (including engineering and editing), graphic design for cds and posters, and any other job she could get her hands on and learn more from.

However, her move back to New York inspired more than opportunity, it brought about her first original song. Since that day, she has never slowed down her pen. Serendipity (coming in 2011) is a selection of earlier songs, brought to maturity by years of performance on her own at open mics as well as with several bands, and finished off with stellar production. As co-producer and co-engineer as well as vocalist, she strove to represent each song with the same honesty it was written with.

To fill the gap before the album one of her newest and most timely songs, “Bake Sale for NASA”, was released as a stand-alone single to spread the message of the importance of funding NASA and to promote and support the Space Tweep Society, a group of space enthusiasts from around the world who have met through Twitter, of which she is an active member.

"Bake Sale for NASA" got a very warm reception, even hitting the top 1200 on the Amazon overall mp3 charts for the day after it was released (quite a feat for a new artist with only word-of-mouth promotion). Accepted into the internet music festival Geek Pop on the strength of that song and needing a couple more to submit, CraftLass returned to the same engineer, Dave Entwistle, to record and the EP Above the Sky sprang into a slightly larger being.

After a hiatus of several years, CraftLass has been slowly starting to perform live again, including the incredible chance to play at the Astronaut Hall of Fame for the Yuri's Night Space Coast Party 2010 for hundreds of people. A solo act at the moment, just her and her trusty Taylor guitar, she is planning to expand her performance schedule and bring her quirky act on the road.  With a long list of original songs to choose from and a variety of cover songs spanning the past 5 decades or so, each show promises to be unique and interesting.

Her diverse influences include: The Kingston Trio, Makem & Clancy, The Beatles, Joan Baez, Peter, Paul, & Mary, Stephen Sondheim, the Grateful Dead, the Allman Brothers Band, Madonna, The Bangles, Edie Brickell, Guns-n-Roses, Indigo Girls, Dar Williams, Lily Allen, and Alanis Morrissette -- a list that only begins to reveal her rich education in many forms of music.
